Tobias couldn't help but laugh a little.
"Well, my childhood - it was nice and all, but not as good as I'd have liked it to be. I was kind of cut off from other people like me. I saw them sometimes when my parents were talking to them, but for the most part, it was me acting like a human."
He felt oddly agitated talking about this and shifted uncomfortably.
"I could never really make any good friends throughout high school and college. I just knew that they were.. different. It didn't feel right."
He got up and awkwardly walked back to the piano. Armande couldn't see his face as he leaned on his elbows, facing the wall. Just as well - his eyes weren't dry anymore, and he didn't want Armande to see him like this.
"I lost my mind." He rubbed tears out of his eyes with his long black sleeves.

She could understand what he meant. Feeling out of place, different, strange around the majority of people. As she reached for him arm he stood, and knowing how it felt to want space, she didn't move to follow him.
"Tobias, if you weren't crazy in some way then you wouldn't be here would you? We all lost our minds somewhere," she said somewhat off-handedly. She could only guess that he still wasn't comfortable with the prospect of living in an asylum. A bit of a smile graced her face for a second.

Tobias was caught totally off-guard. Here he was spilling his secrets out to some girl he barely knew [and feeling like shit for it], and then.. what?
He glanced sidelong at her face. She seemed a little playful, or amused.. Amused because of him? Was she seriously entertained by his story? And bungee jumping? She thinks she's being funny. I don't need funny. I don't need this right now.
Hiding his face with his sleeves, he took a few deep breaths and blinked away the last of his tears.
"Go away, Armande. Just.. forget it." Not waiting for a reply, he turned and started walking back to the hallway.

Her mouth hung open if shock. What's his problem? He looked like he needed a break from what he was saying for a bit. To her, Tobias seemed to be one of the more fragile members of her extended "family". She shook her head at him. Deep down the dark haired girl knew that the poor guy was probably still anxious about the changes that would be happening. Too bad he couldn't control it anymore than she could.
"You seem to be doing just fine leaving. Tell you what, I'll stay here," she called. "This place'll kill you if you don't learn to take your lot and make the best of it." Sighing she shook her head again and laid back on the floor.
Surprisingly, she wasn't angry at him at all. The anthromorph couldn't help but pity him. The white ceiling tiles weren't helping her get over the idea that Tobias could get hurt if he wasn't careful in this prison.
