The young girl had found her way to the kitchen at last, though it was very late in the night now and currently vacant. She had found it mostly because it seemed warmer than the rest of the rooms in the place, and being a heat elemental she could sense this from down the hall. It took being very close to places to sense heat variances, but the sense was nonetheless more heightened in her than would be the norm.

She had spent the last hour baking a batch of fresh beignets and then had started on a pumpkin pie that she had taken creative licence with, crushing up almonds and baking them into the crust, and lining the bottom of the pumpkin filling with a thin layer of caramel. She hadn't needed the oven or to turn on the stove, but heated them on a raised cooling rack and baked them herself that way with her power.

When she lightly touched the top of the pie with her fingers and judged it finished, she picked it up in its glass pieplate without regard to the pulsing heat that stung her fingers but did no damage, and placed it beside the finished beignets to cool. She stood there, leaning slightly against the counter, using her power to cool her pastries slowly.
